“Never doubt that a small
group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed,
it's the only thing that ever does.” The individual can make a difference. Let’s make the waters of Southeastern Connecticut even better. SE*CRES is a science based pro-active citizen’s organization that will be protecting and monitoring the rivers and estuaries of Southeastern Connecticut. PROTECTSE*CRES advocates compliance with environmental laws and will respond to complaints by investigating any reported acts that may cause damage to an ecosystem in our area. Our main goal is to significantly reduce nitrogen overloading. MONITORUsing a 19 ft. Mako (90hp 4-stoke Honda engine) and a 6 ft. inflatable (3 hp Mercury Engine), we will monitor the rivers and estuaries of Stonington and Groton gathering data on the basic physical, chemical and biological parameters. SERVE TO IMPROVESE*CRES will be working with and providing scientific data to organizations: local schools, shellfish commissions, harbor masters and local governments. SE*CRES is also involved in town committees like the Town of Stonington Stormwater Task Force. We also work with marinas and individuals to solve potential and real problems. |
